Libertarian joke...

I thought I'd share this because it was funny (at least to me)...

I'm having a discussion with a friend of mine whom I know to be a hard-core Libertarian. So of course, the subject of guns comes up...

"I don't know, I don't see any use for owning a pistol, if a bad guy is close enough to ya you can hit him with a pistol, you are probably going to be dead anyways..." That was her comment. I was just shocked... I've never heard that from a libertarian... She goes on:

"I don't believe in owning pistols, I just don't see a point in pistol ownership. It just plain doesn't make sense to me..."

So now I'm staring with a wide open mouth.. I'm thinking of a comment like "You call yourself a Libertarian???!! with that kind of outlook on guns???"

So she then says (to shut me up) "But rifles and shotguns on the other hand, those I like. I own 57 of those..."

"Oh.." was my only comment.. She had me going for a while there...

There are plenty on this forum who have opined that their pistol(s) are for fighting their way to their rifles and shotguns. . .

Can't say I find much wrong with that philosophy.

Being a Libertarian has nothing to do with liking or disliking certain guns any more than Libertarians have to smoke dope. It's simply a statement that you believe people should make their own choices on those issues.

Want to disagree with this....

but I just can't. Love my HK USP9 and Sig P228 to death, but I can go to the pistol range, burn 800-900 rounds, and it just feels like work.

I can go to the Rifle range, (if and when I have my rifle), and in 40 or so rounds I can

A) See if I'm accomplishing something that day or just wasting time;
B) Get some sense of what I've been working on and where I need improvement
C) Reach that cathartic level of relaxation and concentration.

Just never happens with the hand guns...

Regards,
S.
