Liberal riding official resigns

when I was a wee lad, Pierre Trudeau, the Prime Minister at the time the socialist puke, may he rot in......
Anyway, he came through Alberta on a cross-country train tour. Several groups in the west were angry about several issues and so they set up a protest at the train station. There were several dozen people by the platform. Trudeau got out to speak, these protesters all waved hello with one finger, he made a similar response, got back on the train and it pulled away.

a 'riding' is a Congressional district equivalent in Canadian politics. Derives from North English political subdivision [now obsolete in England] meaning 'third part'. The county of Yorkshire was formerly divided into East, West & North Ridings for administrative purposes. Winifred Holt's novel 'South Riding' was thus understood to be set in a fictitious part of Yorkshire.
