Liability for Stolen Gun Crimes

Did anyone else see the gun rag article a couple of months back that conjectured that homeowners are liable for crimes committed with firearms stolen from their homes unless they are/were secured by additional locked storage, I guess meaning a safe of some sort? I didn't keep the article. Any legal minds out there able to shed some light on this?

Thanks. Could be. Looks like a really neat crowd on this TFL thing. Nice to have some shooters to commiserate with in "Kalifornia". Beginning to feel ostracized.
Senior Member means you are really old and entitled to discounts, correct?

Welcome Misfire. Seniou member allows you to forget.....sumpin.

Sam..I may be old but at least I'm confustipated.

It galls me that I could be considered liable for the conduct of a thief when that thief has to make a concious decision to tresspass on private property, and has to make a concious decision to defeat mechanisms (locked doors, locked windows, walls) that were designed to keep him separate from my property, and has to make a concious decision to appropriate my private property for his illegal use.

My house is my gunsafe! It's not my fault if you make several concious decisions to violate several laws. I've no obligation to take so-called "reasonalbe steps" to keep my property from falling into your hands. The thief not me should know better than to steal things and then use them illegally!

AARRHHGG!
