LEVERevolution hates my leverrifle

So I wanted to try to test the accuracy of my marlin 1894 in 44mag out to 200 yards so I brought a box win 240gr jsp and a box of hornady 225gr ftx at the 50 yard line the winchesers were putting holes thru holes and the hornadys were right around 1.5 -2 inch groups. so I moved out the target to 100yards. The wins were right around the 1.5 inch mark and the hornadys were all over at over 5 inches. Then I moved the target to 200 where I only tested the wins at this point and they were right about 4 inches. Has anyone had the same poor results with hornadys wonder bullets?

Thanks,
Steve

Don't know, but I would rather have the 240gr. Win.'s than the Hornady's, especially if they shoot that well.

I have an 1895 cowboy and the leverevelution shoots .5-1 inch groups at 50 yards. I havent had a chance to shoot it at 100 and 200 but as long as its around 3 inches at 100 im ok with that. Its MOD(minute of deer) as some people would say.

For a Marlin, that is astounding. Mine wouldn't find paper at 25 yards. And that was after numerous returns to Marlin for 'repairs'.
Either way, that is not a 200 yard round, 100 max.

Rifleman sorry to hear about your rifle when I got mine I had to sed it in because the barrel was in cockeyed and the front sight wasn't atached. As for a 100yard round I bet I'd do just fine out to 150 thoe I have nothing to test this with. I am gonna start reloading for this rifle. I'm thinkin to use noslers deepcurl and h110 and see how that works out.

For a Marlin, that is astounding.

I was astonished when I shot it for the first time, its an early 2011 make and I was really nervous about the new maufacture not doing a good job. Then again it seems like I get lucky with my lever guns being accurate, or like my grandpa always says "I think you were born about 150 years too late." I do tend to have a natural feel for cowboy guns, and I cant hit the broad side of a barn with my AR. So I think he is right. :D

Recoil Junky,

What I would conclude is that your Marlin doesn't like high velocities and lighter bullet weights.

The Hornady LeveRevolution and SuperFormance ammos are pushing the velocity end using different powders and slightly lighter bullets.

I have tried the Superformance rounds in .270, .308, .223 and .22-250.
Three of my rifles didn't perform as well with the SuperFormance ammos but the .22-250 didn't do badly, averaging 0.65 at 100 yards.

The .308 had a really good group under 0.3 inches but on average it didn't perform as well as with other factory ammos.

But none of my rifles perform as well with factory ammos as they do with handloads. I tend to load a bit lower velocity than factory for most of my rifles because they perform best with slower loads, regardless of bullet weights.

The .22-250 is an exception and proves that every rifle sets its own sweet spot that equates to its individual standard of accuracy.

i have had really good luck with the leverevolutions i shoot them in my 44mag and 444 marlin and both shot moa or better at 100 yards

Each rifle, even same make and model, will shoot the same ammo differently.

Has to do with different variables in the manufacturing process. Everything from the steel used to the person actually doing the work in the factory.

Yes I know different ammo affects acuracy in different rifles. Next trip to the range I should have some handloads made up. The twist in the barrel is 1:38 what grain bullet would y'all reckon to be the best for acuracy?

M.O.D. Hahaha, they will run in fear
