lever-acton vs. pump-action rifles

Browing seems to have discontinued their BPR (pump) rifles.
Remington seems to be the only manufacturer still making pump rifles for centerfire rounds.

I love the lever-action rifles, but why have they continued to be so popular vs. the pump-action?

Seems to me it is easier to maintain sight picture with the pumps when cycling the action.

Does anybody make a pump-action in .44 or .357?

What do you think about this?

For whatever reason, the only pump-action rifles with any popularity seem to be .22 rimfires. No idea why.

Pump shotguns, on the other hand...

Good question, no answer.

"Taster's choice", I guess.

Having only once shot a .30-30 lever anything, can't comment tho' they seem to be pretty handy - just never gravitated to one.

Started off shooting pump shotguns so the transition to a Rem 760 was a natural. Not my favorite rifle, but it'll stay in the safe thanyouverymuch - a very good/accurate shooter, very fast (follow-up shots are mostly not needed anyway, but I can follow up accurately in a major centerfire with a pump faster than a semi for some reason).

Beats me why they aren't more popular (I prefer bolts myself), but pumps are decent actions - a bit noisy at the slide when trying to do the sneak bit ....

Rossi makes the revolver-type pumps?

I had a 760 Gamemaster pump Remington several years ago.True it was accurate and very reliable. Definately more accurate than the 742 autos and Browning BARS. I know several people that use them and it seams that the people that like them a lot also hunt with Pump shotguns. I sold mine because I didnot like the wobley forarm and I hate cross bolt safeties, the checkering was stamped on mine and too slick with gloves on and the I did not care for the trigger pull. I much prefer leveractions like the BLR or boltactions for my use.to each his own.

I have a 760 Gamemaster in .30-06 that I have not fired in years. Why? Dunno. Just haven't. When I get the 30 cal urge I usually pull out the Enfield. As I recall, it simply seemed...odd to have a pump action rifle. The balance is very different, and yes, the "wobbly" forearm is an issue.
