Lever action trigger job

Anybody know if it's possible to have a trigger job done on a Marlin 30-30 Lever Action? I just bought one and the difference between the trigger on it and my Howa bolt action is huge. While I don't want the trigger adjusted as light as the bolt action, I really need the weight of the Marlin lightened. It's really throwing my shooting off. Thanks.

I doubt you will be able to get a trigger pull on that Marlin as light as that on a bolt action rifle because of the half-cock notch. Modern trigger pulls are made heavy because of the liability potential if some damn fool shoots himself or someone else.

In addition, the trigger pull has to be heavy enough to make sure the half-cock notch will clear the sear. You don't want to remove the half-cock for safety reasons.

All that being said, it should be possible to reduce the trigger pull to a more reasonable weight and still keep it safe. A little careful stoning might be enough or you can talk to a gunsmith.
