Lever Action smoothness - Goldenboy vs Big Boy

I have both rifles GB= 22LR and BB=44 mag....

The 22 LR is smooth as silk ....where as the design, and of course the size is different for the BB. It is a bit "chunky" and just wondering if it's suppose to be that way.

During my shoot yesterday, I ran 125 rounds through my BB as it's brand new and had 3 "failure-to-eject" rounds.... I just reached in and flicked them out...and believe it was associated with it was starting to gum up with fouling etc.....125 successive rounds seemed to move well except for a few...

Anyway....just wondering your thoughts on the smoothness of the lever action....like how do you know it's an issue....??:confused:
 
Just a suggestion from some work I did on our Marlin 336's, but I was able to smooth out the actions by taking them apart, and doing a little bit of polishing on the internal contact surfaces, as well as a good cleaning and oiling.

I don't know how it translates from a Henry .22, but my .22 feeds a lot more reliably when the gun is held to the shoulder in the position you shoot from and swing the lever with some enthusiasm. Holding the rifle at a strange angle and cycling the bolt slowly is the main thing that will make my .22 not feed correctly. Mine is not a golden boy, but its about as smooth as anyone could want, it has had thousands of rounds put through it.

If your finding yourself with feeding issues after putting more than 100 rounds through it, clean the barrel out every 50-100 rounds.

Did the rounds that failed to eject stay in the chamber or did they just not eject fully out of the port when you opened the lever?

You cant compare the smoothness of a Golden Boy to anything else. The GB is the smoothest lever action ever. Nothing else comes close. Not even a 40 year old well used Marlin 336.
 
Thanks Hawg, my GB is velvet smooth and wanted to check with someone who had some experience ... My BB is smooth as well just requires a little more effort to move more mass....44 mag has a lot more powder and probably fouls alot faster during operation.....
