lever action rifle for range fun?

Hi,

What lever action rifle would be a great choice for exclusive use in a outdoor and indoor
range for general fun target shooting? (I have no intention to hunt.)
I may even get into some fun competition at the range also.

Maybe something like the Henry Golden Boy .22 rifle? Or other suggestions
would be greatly appreciated.

Also, are the Browning and Marlin .22 level action rifles now made in China??

Thanks!

One of the most fun guns I have is a Marlin 1894 in 38/357. I cast bullets so I can shoot it about as cheap as I can 22s.

Accurate, and a heck of a lot of fun to plink with.

That Marlin I mentioned is a .22Lr but I think it shoots shorts and longs too. I never could figure out if longs and magnums are the same in .22 caliber?

Ok

I will have to call Marlin to confirm the 39A is indeed still made in the USA.
The rumors on the web is that its not made in China!

Go with your instincts and get that Henry and about 20,000 rounds of 22 LR any flavor that tickles your fancy and get to shooting.

You can't go wrong with a Henry. Any model, blued or Golden Boy. Great fun, accurate, and reliable, and absolutely 100% American made, no question!!
I have a Golden Boy Magnum, and it is one fantastic rifle.:D:D:D

I think henry rifles are too small for the average shooter unless I was looking at a youth model and the gun salesman made a mistake.I doubt that. Once you get the lever action of your choice that your happy with then thats all you will need is a horse and a cowboy hat then you will be ready for the Wild West!:D

ok

Bullethole,

Are you sure it was made in North Haven?? All the reports I read is that the
CT plant closed and laid off EVERYONE over a year ago!?

you can get a 45/70 sharps carbine, 1873 revolver carbine, a 1883 Burgess. All made by Uberti a surpurp italian old west and BP repro manufacture.

Last month was when the New Haven plant was scheduled to close. In the last year they have been moving operations to Ilion. Being manufactured in New Haven some barrels still have the stamp even if it is shipped to Ilion for final assembly.

I have a Henry lever action in 17hmr very accurate!! also very fun, blows coke cans to bits! I think Henry calls it the "varmint express" though its a bit pricey at around $470

I thoroughly enjoy my plain-jane Henry lever action 22. Very smooth and really no issues to speak of. Could use better sight options though.

It was definitely the youth model. My 'regular' version is quite comfortable and I have long arms.

The Browning BL22 has always been made by Miroku in Japan and is top quality in every way, balanced, accurate, and the short throw of the lever makes it a joy to shoot.

Shoots long rifle, long, and short 22 rimfire - all in the same magazine if you want - magazine holds 15 long rifle cartridges. I've had mine for over 40 years and have always shot it regularly.
