Leupold scope problem

I have an older 2-7 Leupold and it doesn't seem to hold zero and sometimes the verticle cross hair won't move with the turret screw. The cross hair wouldn't move so I gently tapped the turret with a small wooden screw driver and then it moved and I zeroed the gun. It appears it didn't hold the zero and now the cross hair won't move again. Any idea what is wrong or what happened to it ? Any ideas if it can be repaired ?

Turret/reticule spring issue would be my guess.

Yes, Leupold can fix it... call them. If you're nice, and it's not a big deal, they may even fix it for free... and sometimes, it's a better scope than when sold new.

Cheers,
C

It can be repaired-but probably not by you. Send it back to Leupold and take advantage of their life-time warranty.

I sent in an "older" 3.5-10X

Vari-X III, for what I thought was just a dinged ocular bell. I didn't even know the internals were broken, since I bought it second hand.

So, the Leopold customer service people called me and told me the scope was hopelessly damaged - BAD NEWS. Also, since it was so old it was 2 generations outdated. They didn't even have spare parts on hand to fix it. MORE bad news.

But, they would simply send me a new scope, most current model, AT NO MORE CHARGE! GOOD NEWS.:D

They gave me several choices, from 2.5-8X to 4-14X AO (since the old scope was AO). I took the 2.5-8X, VX-3, a $430 MSRP, again - FREE.;)

So, SEND IT IN!!!;)

i have used their service deptment several times over the years and have never had to paid a penny for repairs or return postage. and the return will be prompt. eastbank.

In my twenty years of selling guns, I have never had to send a Leupold back for repair. Your scope was obviously maltreated by the previous owner. Your scope replacement proves that Leupold stands behind their scopes. Yes, they are expensive; however they are worry free.

Geeezzz... this tells you how long it's been since I've sent a scope into Leupold. The last time I sent a scope in (a 1" X36 BR), they replaced the objective lens, the erector assembly and the elevation turret. I think they charged me $20. :)

Yes I did call Leupold and explained everything to them and the guy said send it in and they will either fix it or replace with a current model.
WOW you can't ask for any better than that.

Was in WY last year and my buddy bought a high end pair of leupold binos. In the heat of battle trying to cut off a coyote they flew out an open window and were ran over. Took us an hour to find them. When we did the looked good but would not focus.

He had elk season opening an was guiding a few others. He called leupold told the whole story and the sent him a new pair and an RMA tag for the busted ones. Did it all for free. Love those guys!
