Letter to the editor

My latest issued of the American Rifleman listed some things we can do in the coming week. One was to write a letter to your newspaper. I haven't done that for a while so here is what I sent:

Today I saw a bumper sticker "Sportsmen for Kerry". I was alarmed that the driver is so duped by John Kerry.

Jesus said "By their fruits you shall know them". Kerry's voting record for the past twenty years has always been for gun control, against gun ownership, against the second amendment, and against sportsmen.

I do not hunt but I am a gun owner, therefore a sportsman. In 1994 Kerry supported the Assault Weapons Ban. This had nothing to do with the real thing or fighting crime. It was a ban on semi automatic rifles that looked like assault weapons and the government didn't want Americans to have them. The Bill of Rights states citizen owership of firearms "shall not be infringed". Kerry doesn't believe that. What other Bill of Rights does he not believe in? He was against citizens having military style rifles, next he will be against citizens having semi-auto shotguns.

Without the Second Amendment we have no means to defend the rest. Think about this, please.

In 1775, in Massachusetts, gun owners started the fight for freedom by standing up against the British who were coming to take away their firearms. Stand with me now in 2004 to keep in Massachusetts this threat to our liberties. Vote freedom first!

Let me encourage everyone on TFL to write their town papers. Some of our fellow firearms enthusiasts don't know the truth, let's do what we can to help them.
