Letter to senator

This letter was sent to my two senators in Texas.

Hon. Senator Hutchison:

I would like to express my fear at the hands of those opposed to law abiding citizens right to own and possess firearms. First, I am a proud citizen of the United States and the State of Texas. Second, I am a gun owner who loves to shot and own firearms. I have never used my weapons to harm anyone or take any illegal actions. Third, I am an attorney and now a prosecutor for the Great State of Texas.

I fear that my ability to write you as my representative is at stake. That my mere words of freedom are in great jeopardy. Because those who oppose my ability to legally own firearms, also dislike my freedom to speak my mind and use the Constitutional Right of Freedom of Speech.

I am not talking about the loss of my right to own a firearm, I am talking about the very Bill of Rights that is the core of this great nation. Should one right fall victim to the times and opinions, then all rights contend therein are in great danger and this Country of Free men and women will no longer exist.

I have never been one for grand standing in public and it sickens me how the modern media is demonizing the law abiding citizens of this country in order to push forward their agenda. To say that a firearm or a person who is law abiding might in the future cause some type of harm is absurd. This logic falls short of even being called logic. If that were true, then my mere existance should be questioned because I am a double below knee amputee and I could in the future spawn children that could have the same disease I was born with and could cause a great drain on the health care system and polute the gene pool. Does this sound familiar, it should, this logic was called into play in the Greatest conflict this world has ever known. God Bless our soldiers and brave patriots for helping to defeat such a horrible form of logic.

I beg you to use your God given talents and abilities to fight for the freedom of everyone in this great land. For those to have the ability to speak their minds against oppression and for those to have the ability to lawfully own and possess firearms.

I also, would ask that in your wisdom, to please find it in your heart to offer legislation to severely punish those who break our countries laws and use a firearm. As a former defense attorney and now a proud member of the prosecution team, I see it too often that criminals are not punished for committing crimes with firearms. There should be absolutely no mercy in our judicial system for criminals who use firearms. Please send a message from Capital Hill that this Country will be free and that criminals will be punished.

I would love to discuss this matter further, should you desire, I think you would be surprised to find that the criminals no longer fear the judicial system. That our Courts have become laughing stocks and our laws spat upon.

Sincerely
Judge Blackhawk (real name used in letter)

Any comments would be appreciated.

God Bless you all and may He grant you His good grace and wisdom to face these trying times.

Judge, good letter, except for one minor quibble:

There should be absolutely no mercy in our judicial system for criminals who use firearms.

Why restrict it to just perps with guns? Does Ted Bundy or Kenneth Bianchi deserve leniency because they used their bare hands instead of firearms?

Crimes committed with guns are no more inherently reprehensible than other crimes.

excellant point on the criminals with firearms... Since that is my first mistake of the new millenium, I will attempt to correct it quickly.

I should have caught that problem, because I deal with the scum of society and most of them do NOT use firearms.

Thanks for the help.

Awhile back somebody here on this forum was good enough to enlighten me on the dangers of the Gun Control Act of 68. His post gave me a lot to think about, such as why is a crime with a gun more heinous than a crime without a gun? To my mind, it would take a more vicious person to beat someone to death with his fists than to shoot someone. Ditto with a knife or a baseball bat. If depravity is the determining factor for sentencing, shouldn't there be stricter laws for killing or injuring "up close and personal" than for killing or injuring with a gun? I can imagine
shooting a BG, but I can't imagine beating or strangling someone to death with my hands.
Just thinking out loud.
