Letter to Chuck Schumer

I really had to do this, after reading about those poor five killed like sheep in a NYC fast-food restaurant (what a squalid, sordid way to go)...Here goes:

To: senator@schumer.senate.gov

Dear Mr. Schumer,

I am writing you in the vain hope that you will
seriously ponder the consequences of the stringent gun
control that prevented the five victims at Wendy's
from defending their lives.

Let me ask you, sir, the following questions:

1) In whose favor do you think New York's
prohibition-style laws played - the helpless victims'
or the perpetrators'?

2) Why do YOU surround yourself with armed bodyguards
while you wish every other citizen disarmed? Is it a)
you perceive your life as more valuable than that of
your fellow Americans or b) you arbitrarily consider
yourself more at risk than others?

3) Do you think the Second Amendment was written so
that politicians like you could "defend" themselves
from the people (through armed bodyguards and
egregious exemptions from the laws they themselves
create) or the other way around?

4) Do you consider private firearm ownership enough
of a capital sin to justify the sacrifice of innocent,
law-abiding victims (like the 5 at Wendy's) to the
dubious and unproven altar of "safety" and "pacifism"?

5) Have you ever put yourself in the shoes of a
single mom who works late in a high-risk environment,
an elderly man whose neighborhood has been taken over
by hoodlums or a father who wishes to protect his
precious family from harm?

6) The Founding Fathers, aware of human nature and
sober from any intoxicating utopias, thought that
people like those five executed at Wendys had a
God-given right to protect themselves. Why do you so
depart from their enlightened view?

I am not a New Yorker, nor I ever intend to be one. I
am simply an honest Citizen who intends to exercise
his Rights as an American. I could be the next person
"executed" by criminals for a few dollars' profit.
But I choose to be armed, like the Founding Fathers of
MY COUNTRY. Ironically, you do too, since you utilize
taxpayers' funded bodyguard services.

But, somehow, I don't think you want the same America
as I do.

God Bless,

Tom Leoni

..............................

Somehow, I don't think he'll really give a hoot. But it felt good. You know the media will never ask him any of these questions.....

Private gun ownership is the capital sin in the left's godless religion. Crime is merely a venial mistake.

Excellent letter! A copy of it should also go to Feinstein, Boxer, etc.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Good letter, and good intentions. It is important to understand who you're dealing with ...

I've despised Mr. Schumer for quite awhile, but my disgust became utter disdain about a year ago. I was perusing his web site, and came across his illustrious biography: http://www.senate.gov/~schumer/html/biography.html

I found this line to be particularly interesting: "The following year (1994), he passed the Assault Weapons Ban, which outlawed 19 automatic weapons whose sole purpose was to kill."

Now, the statement was not only over-zealous (to be expected), but also blatantly inaccurate. I hoped that the term 'automatic' had been an insertion by an ignorant staffer.

I sent them an email to clarify that these had been 'semiautomatice' firearms, received no response, and the same drivel still resides on his web site. [for lurkers ... 'automatic' firearms, aka 'machine guns', have been heavily restricted since 1934 ]

I dislike anti-self defense activists intensely, but there is a special place in my heart for those politicians who blatantly lie to the American people about such an important subject. Mr. Schumer is pond scum.

Just goes to show, they want to abolish guns in the name of "law and order" for us serfs, but the royalty gets to keep theirs.

Has a ring of truth to it doesn't it? :)
I know I think of squalid and sorid as synonomous with schumer, and I don't live in NY! hehe
