A few weeks ago I worked a detail where I could be legally armed, but for the sake of discretion I chose to carry my normal BUG, a Kel Tec P32, as my primary CCW. I carried a spare magazine on my person but threw an additional spare into the side pocket of my lunch cooler "just in case". I found that magazine a couple of days ago...
That would be a mostly melted piece of butterscotch candy and a drink mix stuck to it. Another spare magazine is next to the dirty one, both are factory KT mags with Flyer Wires installed. Ammo is Cor Bon from that box.
Note the goo inside the magazine and the thick coating on the spine. The bits of lint and dust are not quite visible in the pictures, but they are there. Believe me.
I hear advice given to those who pocket, purse, or bag carry that the gun should be the only thing in a particular pocket. This would seem to be the reason for that advice. If you are one of those people, learn from my mistake and check your gun and equipment now to see if all is as you expect it to be. I forgot about that magazine since I don't usually carry it and I didn't realize there was stuff left in that pocket. To simulate what would have happened in a worst-case situation, I plan to fire the gun empty with the primary magazine and reload with the gooey one as if I had found it when I was in need of a reload. Might as well rotate out my carry ammo and do some Mythbuster shooting at the same time. My prediction is that it will fire fine. I work at the range where I'll be shooting it and I have no worries about damaging the gun or cleaning it afterwards.
Your comments, criticisms, suggestions, or thoughts are welcome as always.
