Let me really whizzz in your corn flakes!

You are surprised?????? I'm only surprised that the memo made it to the open.

I believe Bill Clinton is capable of ANYTHING. We will all be safer when he leaves office (I think). The President intends to place the American flag in a subordinate position to the flag of the Republic of Vietnam and to do so he have to change regulations. What makes you think he values American lives more that Palestanian lives?

Nikita Khrushchev predicted confidently in a speech in Bucharest, Rumania on June 19, 1962 that: " The United States will eventually fly the Communist Red Flag...the American people will hoist it themselves."

The main problem is that this government chooses to speak for the world rather than for this country.

Lets talk numbers. How many of you would give up one American life for 100 Palestinians? And if that one American life were yours would you feel the same?

Our government has to put US first.

XXXXX DRUDGE REPORT XXXXX TUE OCT 17, 2000 20:03:41 ET XXXXX
STATE DEPT MEMO: DEATH OF US SAILORS DOES NOT COMPARE TO PALESTINIAN TOLL
The United States State Department believes the "17 or so dead sailors" on the U.S.S. Cole "does not compare to the 100+ Palestinians who have died in recent weeks" in Mideast violence, a stunning government memo reveals.

The Clinton/Gore Administration disapproved a VOICE OF AMERICA broadcast condemning the attack on the Cole. A memo from the Executive Secretariat Staff at the State Department stated:
"The Department of State does not clear on the referenced VOA editorial.
"This editorial will reach an audience that is caught up in the violence in Israel and the Occupied Territories. The 17 or so dead sailors does not compare to the 100+ Palestinians who have died in recent weeks where we have remained silent. The people that hear this will not see the separation we are trying to make and relate it directly to the violence.
"Either VOA adds something in there to take the edge off and mention the Palestinians or we should kill this editorial until the violence has calmed for a while.
"S/CT concurred with this. If you have questions concerning this editorial, please contact NEA/P (unintelligible)

Clinton has his priorities in order all right.

When the bodies of the first few Cole sailors were arriving back in this country at Andrews AFB, King Willie was attending a Democratic fundraiser in Colorado.

How nice of our Chicken-in-Chief to put political dollars in front of our servicemen's lives. He certainly doesn't 'feel their pain'.

Fast Eagle,

The answer as to why you still serve is easy. You are not serving the administration, you are serving a much higher and more noble cause - our country and the principles for which it was founded. The administration, and much more specifically the President, is only a temporary representative of that cause. And as we have seen repeatedly, this temporary representative can be very good or very bad. In the case of the bad ones we have to be able to look beyond their disgraceful behavior to the real reason we serve.

What would happen if all the honorable service members like you and I and the other good ones we know left because of the current leadership? What would that leave? The weakminded, the lackeys, the ones who would fall for and believe what many of these liberals put forth as their philosophy and standards of behavior. And what sort of leadership would they provide to our newly-commissioned officers and the new enlistees we get? Can you imagine these new military members being lead by people who think highly of the current administration? What would that do to our military forces and readiness?

You serve, hopefully, because you have an understanding of and a commitment to the philosophical and moral values which made this country great. Look beyond the current resident of the White House to the ideals you committed yourself to and the oath you took.

"I (state your full name) do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same, that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice, so help me God" (from memory)

That, in my humble opinion, is why people like you and I continue to serve. I hope this helps a little.

I was indirectly associated with the military during the Vietnam war. I clearly remember conversations among active participants questioning how they could continue to serve because the waste was beyond comprehension. I'll never forget the response of a officer friend of mine. He said, "I swore an oath to protect and defend the constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. I did not swear an oath to the President." He did not like what was going on, but he stayed.

Fast forward to the Gulf War. I had great fear about the success of our forces in the Gulf because my last contact with the military was Vietnam. All the comments, attitudes, and mindsets were what I remember. I was greatly afraid that we were in over our heads in the Gulf.

Then the coverage began and I saw the likes of Schwartzkopff (sp?), Powell, Horner, Franks, and a multitude of highly professional soldiers who knew what to do and how to do it. I saw a President at work who knew exactly what the chain of command was. I saw a government which knew how to apply lethal force in the most effective way possible. What I later learned was that all the stars of the Gulf gig all decided to stay in the military after the Vietnam fiasco and start from scratch. They done good in my mind.

Fast Eagle, I can sympathize with your dilemma. But I have also recently seen the good that a group of determined, iron-will men and women can do. Clinton will go away and I trust the American people with their judgment. I predict we will all take a collective shower this november and clean away the dirt that has so encrusted us over the last 7+ years. Then we can start all over. For 200+ years America has always been in over its head and WE STILL KEEP COMING.

Waitone,

The military leaders during the Gulf War were junior officers during VietNam. They saw what was wrong and were the ones who decided to stay in and change the military for the better. Both Schwartzkopf and Franks made that clear in their books.
