In order to protect our members and TFL from possible litigation, all members must abide by the following new rules:

    1. Copying and pasting entire articles from another site to TFL is strictly prohibited. The same applies to articles from print or other media, and to posting photographs taken of copyrighted pages or other media.

    2. Copyright law provides for “fair use” of portions of a copyrighted work. You can copy no more than a SINGLE paragraph from the article to your post (3 or 4 sentences at most).

    3. You must provide a link to the article along with the name of website. For example: ww.xxx.yyy/zzz (The Lower Thumbsuck Daily News).

    4. You must provide, in your own words, a brief summary of the article AND your reasons for believing it will be of interest to TFL members. Failure to do so may result in the thread being closed or your post being deleted as a “cut and paste drive by.”

    5. Photographs and other images are also copyrighted. "Hotlinking" of images (so that it appears in your message) from other sites is also prohibited unless you own rights to the image. If you wish to share an image, provide a clickable link to it.

Posts that do not follow these new guidelines will be altered or deleted by staff. Members who continue to violate this policy may lose their posting privileges at TFL.

Thank you for your cooperation and your participation in TFL, the leading online forum for firearms enthusiasts.

Less tyranny?

It would be nice if the general discussion forum was truly open to all topics. Guns is not all there is to talk about. Its bad enough that we have to fear our government, let alone fearing a topic is going to be zapped. Is it not ironic that we speak of freedom yet operate in the shadows of moderators who behave like 4 star generals. Freedom of speech? Just my 2 cents. Thanks.:)

PS- I was Shotgun364. Im not exactly new. :D

No offense but did you even check to see if this topic had been broached before? I tend to think you couldn’t have, since it was brought up less than 5 days ago. I think if you change the show thread for the past XX days to 45 you get something like 4 or 5 threads about this very issue. I suspect if you ran a little search you would come up with a TON of hits. It has been answered before, and there is a good reason why there isn’t a non-gun related forum. Personally I can see both sides, but as this isn’t my place, I don’t make the rules. Since this is BY FAR the best firearms related web site anywhere I can handle a little restriction to “only” discuss guns and civil liberties.

Its not ironic at all. I would encourage you to study the Federalist Papers, or the Anti Federalist Papers. I humbly suggest that were you to do so, you might not consider a private forums set of rules to be even remotely related to your First Amendment freedoms. Just my .02

I changed my name because I wanted a change. I never really liked Shotgun364. It was something I came up with the first time I registered but wasnt happy with, no biggy.
Also, I love this forum. I have been apart of many vBulliten type forums and by far this is my fav. I just thought that it would be nice sometimes to mimmick life in so far as talking bout other things sometimes. Movies, food, music, chess, etc. Nothing vulgar or pornographic (of which some forums allow).
I just made a spontanious suggestion without delving into any research here based on my opinion.

Other than that, yeah, ok. So I wont talk about anything but firearms. I am only a guest here so who am I to voice about wanting to spend more time than I already do in my favorite place to be.
