Less than stellar results with Aguila .45acp

Ordered some Aguila .45acp from ATG Wholesale a while back, when I couldn't find any .45acp in more mainstream brands from my regular sources. Took a few boxes to the range last week, with my DW CBOB, and it worked ok.

However, took 3 boxes with me yesterday, to shoot through my P220. Had several rounds that required a second, third, or even fourth pull of the trigger; had 3 that would not fire no matter how many times I pulled through, SA or DA.

First conclusion is that my P220 mainspring is probably weaker than that on my CBOB.

Second conclusion is that since other factory ammo works just fine through my P220, that this batch of Aguila has some pretty hard primers.

Anybody else have any issues with Aguila .45acp?

I've only tried the agula in 380 in my lcp and didn't have any problems. I have been told though when I had problems with wolf ammo in my lcp the wold uses a stiifer primer and that the lcp has a light firing pin. This may be a similar problem. May also be comparing apples to oranges. But from reading foreign made ammo is supposed to use a stiifer primer.

Yeah I shoot Aguilla .45 all the time with no troubles to date. It's a bit dirty, but that doesn't bother me much. Perhaps you should contact them and see if they will replace it.

Did you inspect any of the duds for light strikes or did you go ahead and rerun all of them without looking at them?

They all had punched primers....

including the three that never fired.

As noted, many others required multiple strikes.

OTOH, probably 80-85% worked, which makes me think it was the ammo vs the gun.

Seems like a pretty high misfire rate. I bought some Wolf .40 S&W for my Glock 22 this summer, because it was available and cheap. I was pretty happy with it until my last range trip when I had two fail to fires. The first fired on the second strike the second did not fire after three strikes. I have not shot enough to know what an acceptable rate of misfire is for practice ammo, 2 out of 750 doesn't seem to bad, but 15 to 20 percent seems horrible.

I ran a few boxes of Aguila .45 through my P220 two years ago with zero problems. It was super dirty, but it all went bang with a single trigger pull/round.
