Les Baer vs PS90

Oh, wise and understanding minds of TFL, I seek your sage advice once again.

To recap: I have a wonderful wife. Words betray her beauty. She knows I love weapons, and I am allowed to purchase (sometimes).

You've helped me before with my SASS vs Bolt Gun conundrum. Pic follows. Here's the new issue: I have been blessed w/ money enough to spend on guns!!!! Bills are paid ahead for a bit, and I have been given the legendary "green light". The question is - Les Baer Thunder Ranch, or FN PS90? I have BBQ Rigs. I have fun range time stuff. Which one? Thank you in advance.

Respectfully,

-Murray

Revision: I have no idea how to attach photos the right way. Site says I'm over limit. Will attach pics to "LB vs PS90"

Baer.

At the end of the day the FN is an overpriced plastic gun designed around a boutique round. Now a real P90 is wicked fun. The PS90 has too much barrel too underpowered ammo (was really designed to put multiple ap rounds on target fast) and is too much money.

A high end 1911 will never go out of style and come time we colonize Mars I guarantee you there will be 12 bore shotguns and .45 pistols that come with us in some form or another.

My two cents and I am not even a 1911 guy so to speak and I LOVE the P90

Kinda like asking folks which motorcycle should I buy? A Harley Road King or a KTM 690. Altho both are motorcycles and both a hoot to ride, both are very different platforms intended for completely different purposes.

I don't own a Baer but I do have several custom Colt 1911s. I also have a PS90 that I bought last year, bought one for my son, also. Except for the fact that they're both firearms they have nothing in common.

I love my 1911s, carry them, compete with them, keep one on the nightstand.

But I also love the PS90. It is accurate, fast shooting, recoil is negligible, it's way quieter than an AR-15, it's got 50rd mags, it's short and light and handy. I live in the country, I've got chickens and a big garden, going to start meat rabbits this spring. We've got plenty of pests and predators in our area - feral cats, coons, porcupines, coyotes, bobcats, rats, etc.. The PS90 is accurate and effective out to a good 150yds on such vermin, which happens to about the distance across my back field from my yard to the woods. I've also used it in a few 3 gun matches and it has performed well for me there also. I keep it loaded and handy in the house and am confident that it will work just fine as a home defense weapon if necessary.

So, I can't tell you to buy one or the other, I can tell you that I have expensive 1911s and I have a PS90 and I enjoy and use both. My PS90 is a keeper.

To me the PS90 doesnt really do anything particularly well as a semi-auto (full auto is a different story) compared to a bullpup or ordinary AR.
I suppose its ok for a indoor HD gun or novelty piece, but its plastic, missing heirloom qualities and fires a round that may become more difficult to find as the years pass.
Lastly, while highly subjective, I find the PS90's visual appeal to be downright repugnant.

The Les Baer is the easy pick in my mind.

Les Baer for sure. They hold their value and are very well made. The Thunder Ranch Special is amazing. It is one of my favorite pistols. Plastic fantastic is okay if you do a lot of outdoor shooting. Just my personal opinion, I think the FN is ugly as sin.

I am shamelessly addicted to 1911s and own two Baers, but not the Thunder Ranch. So, you can guess what I would buy.
