FA475,

Hey there. I don't own a LB Premier II; however, I do own one of Les Baer's vaunted SRPs (Swift Response Pistol) which as you may know was built to FBI swat team specs.

Speaking for my SRP, I can say that so far the weapon has been nearly flawless. I guess your decision really depends on what your primary use is. If your're a bullseye shooter or IPSC shooter the P2 is probably a good choice.

If you want a self defense pistol, I'd seriously consider Wilson Combat, Ed Brown, or one of the many expert, sole proprietor pistolsmiths who frequent this board such as Steve Clark or Brian Bilby. These guys can build superior carry weapons to your exact specifications and recommend the best parts.

Not the Premier II specifically.....

But a hard ball pistol. The pistol doesn't perform well with the TZZ 45ACP ball my buddy gets but, everything else is super accurate. Having looked at other pistols, there are several caveats on accuracy gurantees for this ammo. Fit, finish and, overall function are very good. A lot of attention to the details are evident. Are they worth the money? I think so. However, ...

Have you looked at Rock River Arms? For a personal use 45 single stack, I am leaning towards them. Currently, they are the only other choice I am considering besides Infinity.

Infinity can be had in roughly the same price range. They offer some unique features for that once in a lifetime purchase. The Light Touch Trigger (LTS) is wonderful. The Interchangeable Breechface allows you do things other 45's can't.

If you can swing the purchase price (~$1500), the Infinity is really hard to beat.

Iown a 5inch ultimate master which is sort of a fancy Premier 2. I sprung for the inch and a half groups option on it. IT is very accurate and reliable with the new 8rnd. mags les is making or 7rnd. metalforms.

I own a premier II and a concept 1 in 45 acp. When I first got it I thought why would anyone want to buy a kimber or a colt or any other make. They are all just so sloppy and loose when you compare it to the Baer. Now after 4 years, I say the same thing. I could never see any reason to buy a 1911 that was not a Baer.

Anyway about the gun. Far more accurate then I will ever be. At 15 to 20 yards, I can easily keep 50 shots within about 2 inches of each other. I know this is not as spectacular as the groups you see in the magazines, but try it some day with most guns. I find this is pretty good shooting. I would also say another thing I really like is that when you drop the slide on a fresh magazine, all of the shots go to the same spot. Most of my other guns have the 1st shot go one place and all of the rest somewhere else.

Would I recommend the gun, whole heartedly (badly spelled). I like the concept 1, but I shoot the premier II. Complaints? yes, one, I wish he made a 10mm version. By the way, my current toy is the 357 sig, great, but not a Baer.

I got one in December and have put about 1400 rounds through it. It is simply
outstanding in terms of reliability, accuracy
and craftsmanship. I feel lucky every time I use it. Mine has ambi safety, which I would not buy again. It has 1.5 inch gaurantee, which I don't need.

Peter,LES will build a PII in 10mm if you ask it will cost a bit more because it uses a fully supported bbl. in that caliber.

I used to own two Premier II's and both of them work really well... I was really satisfied in the fit and finish... And, of course, the accuracy was excellent... As for value though, I certainly got a really good deal on both of mine, but that was a special offer that I got a long time ago (a little more that $1,100 per gun - brand new). Definately take your time to when you are buying something in this price range... Most of the guns/models are similar in performance, so your personal taste/likes will probably be a large factor in which one you eventually buy... Good luck!

etc:

Please elaborate. You've piqued my interest! You liked them enough to buy three, but didn't like them enough to keep them???

jwong:

You, too, are a "former" owner??? Please tell us why...
