Lens Cleaner

Since i refuse to pay $999.99 for Leupolds pen that cleans scope lens, is there anyone that will share what cheap cleaner (tobacco juice,moonshine,windex,etc.) that will clean a scope lens without damaging it?? I heard rubbing alcohol works good,is that true?? Although i have a mid priced scope i would hate to damage the lens.Thanks for any replies...

A good place to find lense cleaning supplies is a good camera store. Look in the yellow pages under photography or camera.

Make sure you use lense paper and cleaning solution to cean the lense. Anything else will scatch the lense. Tissues and cotton may feel soft but are like sand paper on lenses.

Does anyone know if eyeglass cleaner will work? Wal Mart sells a small spray bottle filled with cleaner and a special cloth to wipe them clean. It also comes with a small screwdriver and the cleaner comes with free refills! It's about $2.50.
