legitimate information or fund raiser scare tactics?

Had a phone call this evening from Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, send money type of thing, dealing with a new "Juvenile Justice Package" as yet un-numbered that sounds unusually nasty, as described.

The law abiding gun owner, in cases of stolen guns, would be liable for crimes committed by a "juvenile" who had stolen the firearms, national firearms registration, total ban on gun shows, that sort of thing.

At the moment, no way of knowing if this is legitimate information, or scare tactics for fund raising. There is nothing at www.thomasloc.gov on this, that I can find, but who knows, as strange things happen in the last days of a congressional session. Might be worth a look see, if you know of another source.

The above passed on for whatever it might be worth.

Never, ever, ever give money to any organization until you have checked them out thoroughly. Charities and political action groups are great fronts for scam artists. These guys may be legit, but they may also have gotten your name from a mailing list and figured "this guy's a gunny, it's two weeks till the election, he'll send us money without checking".

I hang up on all phone solicitors anyway, right after instructing them that I must be placed on their "do not call" list.
