Legality of defense during a riot.

I was just watching the news and heard about riots down in Louisanna. It got me thinking about a possible circumstance.

Lets say that you are in your business defending your possessions. A looter breaks in unarmed and begins stealing things with you there, the looter not caring. If you are armed and demand the looter to leave and he ignores your demands and keeps stealing. What sort of rights do you have to protect your property? Could you legaly use deadly force to do so, or are you stuck in a quandry?

Just a hypothetical

Look forward to any insight on this one.
Thanks in advance.

In Louisiana, you can use lethal force to defend your life.
If a person forces entry into your home, you have no obligation to retreat. It is assumed that he did not break your door down to sell you Girl Scout cookies.

A store and it's contents are property.

This is being discussed in this thread.

thanks for the link, i don't check the legal forum to much, and althought that isn't a good excuss for me not looking, i'll have you know i am also lazy.

Thanks again.

This may be wrong and unacceptable here but in a looters rioting situation where subhumans are preying on the misery of others, I think an adaptation of Shoot, Shovel and Shut up would be appropriate
