Legal issues of selling guns to individuals

I am kinda into trading guns. I don't do it as a business or to make money, but I buy guns to try them out, shoot them a while, and then sell them. I can't afford to own dozens of guns, but this way I get to try many differnt guns out.

Anyway, I have only sold them online to people and it obviously went through their FFL making it legal.

My question is what are the laws regarding my selling of a gun to a local individual? Do I just check their ID and verify they are of age? What if the gun is later used in a crime? Is there some sort of form I should have the buyer fill out?

It varies state to state. My state (New Mexico) has no restrictions.

As PF said it varies from state to state. In Missouri the seller is supposed to require the buyer to obtain a permit from their (buyers) county sheriff for all handgun sales. There are no requirements for long guns.
In your case you need to hear from some fellow Texans.

i have bought a few guns from private individuals, and they didn't want to see anything. I offered to show them my DL and CHL and they didn't care. If it was me I would like to see a CHL. In indiana private sales are legal without an FFL. That what I would do personally if I sell it and its registered to me and then the buyer uses it in a crime or kills someone, I am going to jail. Watvh your head their are alot of undercover cops doing things like this. They busted a few shops here b/c of straw sales, meaning a guy bought the gun and told the shop he was buying it for his friend who was with him. That what happened at columbine and it just might happen to you. SO HEADS UP!

Definitely check out Texas rules. But here is a little known fact. Here in Florida, you can ship guns to in-state purchasers without meeting face to face. Federal rules allow it, so unless Texas prohibits it, your trading can be a lot easier, even over gunbay.

In Texas, you just take his money and give him the gun, as long as he is 18 or over. You don't even have to know his name.
I love Texas!

I will state this once again for those that might have missed it...there is a Federal Law that says no individual may transfer ownership of a handgun to any person under the age of 21. That goes for all 50 states, Indiana, Texas, Maryland, all of 'em. If ya' like I'll look up the citation chapter & verse from the FFRFG 2000 Green book. This has nothing to do with having an FFL or in-state or out-of-state. If you give a kid a HANDGUN, you are a felon. I think it's stupid, too! The law, not the kid with the gun.

Almost right. Between 18 - 21 under federal law, they can buy a handgun from an individual but not a FFL holder. Look it up.

what about a shotgun? got a guy who was wanting a shotgun for home defense use...I have one and he has the money and I need the money soooo.....

I'm in texas.
