A new Web-based film produced by a gun-rights education site uses powerful images, quotes, and a litany of lawmakers and public officials who have pushed for stricter gun control laws in the United States to make a case that eventual outright bans of all firearms could someday lead to tyranny.
The site -- The Center for the Prevention of Handgun Violence -- may have borrowed its name from a similar Handgun Control, Inc.-related site, but it presents entirely different arguments, positions, facts and supporting data in an effort to "educate people about gun control and firearms and their proper and legal use."
The film, which was produced by The Liberty Belle Group, features quotes, along with images, from President Clinton, Attorney General Janet Reno, FBI Director Louis Freeh and a host of lawmakers who have called for or supported stricter gun-control laws.
Elsewhere in the film, producers evoke images of Nazi Germany's Adolph Hitler, fascist Italy's Benito Mussolini and the Soviet Union's Joseph Stalin to drive home their point that historically, total gun bans in those countries prevented citizens from fighting against the tyrannical reign of those leaders.
In addition, the film includes images of Nazi death camps, along with a statement by Theodore Haas, a former prisoner of the famed Nazi concentration camp at Dachau, testifying that had ordinary Germans (and Jews) been allowed access to firearms then it is possible the slaughter by Hitler may never have occurred.
