Lefty Shotgun

I'm sure this topic has been discussed previously, but I'm brand new to the forum, so I hope you'll all bear with me.

I'm a lefty and I'm looking for a shotgun for home defense. So far I've found the Ithaca 37 and the Remington 870 that seem to be good for lefties. However, I have been unable to find a listing for the Remington 870 in less than a 28" barrel (about 8-9" longer than I want). Also, the Ithaca apparently holds only 4 shells in the tube, which is less that I'd like.

So, my question to you all is: Are there better lefty SGs out there or am I on the right track. If I'm doing all right, are there magazine extensions for the Ithaca 37 (I'd imagine there must be...but I can't find those either)?

Thanks.

Welcome to TFL!!!

Remember, just because the left-hand 870s don't come with a short doesn't mean you can buy a short barrel and put it on the 870. You could also have a gunsmith cut the barrel down too!

Mossberg shotguns are ambidexterous, they the safety located on top of the reciever so the shotgun can be used left or right hand with no problems. Mossberg also has a persuader line of defensive shotguns!

No aftermarket extension exists for the Ithaca 37. Some have been made at the factory with more capacity, mostly for LE and military use. Barrels are not interchangeable with the standard ones.

LH 870s are fairly rare. I've not seen any with short barrels.
