A good friend of mine asked me if anyone made a left-hand semi-auto assault style rifle. I told him I did'nt know of any but would check. Anyone on the forum know of one ?

DPMS makes (or used to, at any rate) a left-handed upper for the AR-15. Other than that, I don't know of any specifically left-handed semi-autos.

I'm a lefty and haven't had a problem with "normal" semi-rifles or handguns. The AR is probably most lefty-friendly -- easily available, drop-in ambi parts (selector, charging handle). The guns with their charging handles on the left are pretty easy to operate, too (FAL, Robinson M96, et al).

Hope that helps...

I have to agree w/MK9. I haven't had a problem with A2 series ARs, the Mini-14, M1A, SKS, AK, or the Mossy and Remington SGs.

If he's interested in something more collectible, he can purchase a VZ 52 rifle which ejects left instead of right. It was made in the 1960s and used by the guards on the Berlin Wall.

Long defunct Holloway Arms of TX use to make their HAC-7 .308 semi-auto rifle in left hand. Modernly, you can turn to DPMS for a southpaw gun. BTW, I built my own using the an ambidextrious safety and upper receiver from DPMS and a magazine release from Norgon. It's a blast to kick out shells from the left side.

DPMS makes both a flat top upper (slab side w/out forward assist) and a carrying handle model (with forward assist). Both use a special bolt and other than the bolt, everything else is the standard right handed part for the upper receiver.
