Left-handed Scout?

OK, I know all the reasons that Jeff Cooper says the Scout is the best general-purpose rifle, and the Steyr is the best Scout. I even agree with most of them.

So what am I, a left-handed shooter, to do? Neither Steyr nor Savage is making a Scout in a left-hand model, which means if I want one, I'm committed to a custom job.

Comments or suggestions? Any left-hand Scout owners out there?

Since the Scouts have their scopes mounted in front of the bolt section instead of over it you can do the following: To throw the bolt you can reach over the top of the bolt area with your left hand, and do what needs to be done with the bolt all while holding the rifle's stock in the pointing posistion with your right hand. This way you don't lose your sight picture, and ready the next round to fire.

D Roberson; I'm a lefty also and was sad to see savage didn't come out with a lefty scout. So I ordered a savage 111FLC in 30-06. Not a scout but It will do just fine. Good luck, j.s.
