Left handed rifle wanted

First, hello. I'm new here, and to black powder, but been an active shooter for many years.
I'm looking to get my feet wet in traditional muzzle loading, and have a question (or two). I'm looking at two lefty Hawken type rifles, and wonder what direction to take.
(1) Used T/C Renegade, looks like it's in pretty good condition, maybe $300 or so.
(2) New Cabela's Hawken, $500 with accessory kit (stuff I'll need anyway)
(3) Anything you guys can recommend?
I kinda like the T/C's price, but the Cabela's has more shiny bits.

Thanks, Ed

Welcome!

I'm in the same boat, lots of firearm experience, no muzzloader. I'm also a lefty and was unable to find the side-lock rifle that I wanted.

I decided to build from scratch and received some truly expert advice from the members here. As of now I'm still in the planning/accumulating parts phase of the build, however I do intend to have a functional left-hand, cherry stocked, .32 cal. small game rifle come next squirrel season.

Best of luck, Bill

I have a LH 32 cal long rifle, percussion, made by a local guy here (KY) probably 30 yrs ago. Plain jane, no brass, no decorations, Douglass barrel best I remember, double trigger, but it shoots like a dream. I would trade, sell, but shipping can be a hassle. If anyone close is interested..... let me know.

For quality, hands down get the T/C. I bought a Renegade off GunBroker a few years back and still could not be happier. Plus you can add all the shiney bit's later on.

Thanks for your replies!
I went with the used ($250) T/C Renegade, should have it in hand in a couple days.
Can't wait to start turning money into smoke and noise!
