I've recently inherited a Lefever Arms 20 ga SXS. Stamping on the side indicates it was made in Syracuse, NY. Patent stamps are from 1872 88 90 94 & 1907, serial # is 69789.
In addition I also have a received an American gun company 20 ga SXS. This one is stamped Knickerbocker on the left side of the gun. I was able to find more info on the web about it's manufacture as a "hardware" gun made by Crescent but any additional info would be appreciated.
I'm not intrested in selling, these are heirlooms that I'd like info on. Thanks.

As H&D Folsom bought out Crescent, and subsiquently Stevens Bought out Folsom we can determine, within reason, that Crescent started it, and Folsom as Stevens kept the models.

The Stevens 311 is a good utility gun, the Knickerbocker, American Gun Co being the tradenames used, and there are still parts available for the 311. Been around along time.

American Gun Company was also a trade name used by Folsom on guns made for Sears around 1900

KNICKERBOCKER
Made by Crescent Fire Arms Co for H&D Folsom Co of New York City 1904 1915.

KNICKERBOCKER
Made by J. Stevens 1915 1930 possibly for H&D folsom Co Same as Stevens/Savage model 311
