Lee Quick Trim Die

Has anyone used this die? Will it fit on a Hornady Classic Press using the Hornady lock ring? Does it really trim the case to the proper length for a given caliber?

I made a 43 second video in 2012
1) RCBS Trim Pro 3-Way Cutter 22 Caliber,
2) Lee threaded Shellholder 223, [Lee case gauge and shell holder 90114, but not using the gauge]
3) Lee Lock stud, [Lee cutter and stud 90110, but not using the cutter]
4) 0.0495" diameter RCBS trim pro cutter shaft part number 09405
5) small needle nose vise grips,
6) 6" Kurt vise,
7) 1963 21-100 Rockwell mill [or use a drill press]

Since then I upgraded the mill to a 1969 series II Bridgeport [that made a u-wave module that is on Mars].
Since then I went on the Paleo diet, and my hands are no longer fat.
But I still believe in the Lee threaded shell holder and lock stud.

Why wouldn't it? It is long enough and made to work in reloading presses.
Do you want brass shavings on your L-N-L press (or does the die contain them?) or should you get a $25 Lee Reloading Press for this and other small jobs?

You will need the Quick Trim or the Deluxe Quick Trim and the quick trim die. The die alone won’t do anything.

I use the 7 mm mag and 308 quick trim dies on my Lee press with standard cutter with black knob. The deluxe cutter is supposed to debur and chamfer at the same time but really ruins a case. Once you get the cutter set in and the plastic ring moves it up or down in 10ths I like it better than the drill and chuck. More consistent trimming but be prepared to ruin a couple pieces of brass dialing it in. Has a small tray that goes over she'll holder but shavings usually stay in top part of die. No issue. Turn upside down and spray with caseys gun scrubber. Shavings gone. I can trim 50 in a matter of a few minutes. You do need different die for each caliber but only one cutter. Spray some lube on the blades before trimming.

I use it also. IF you are using it for pistol you need to READ the instructions, there is a small ring you have to take off of the trim tool. I read a review on a forum once where someone said it was a POS because the trim tool wouldn't reach his pistol cases, I'm fairly certain he didn't read the instructions.

It also seems like you need to be pretty consistent with the force you put on the press handle as you trim. If you get a little lazy you can end up with longer cases.

I have the Lee quick trim die for 223 and 308. I would not recommend it, way too much effort and I did not find the result to be particularly good.
