Lee mold for P01?

I've been using the 358-125-rf for the 75 but my new P01 doesn't like it one bit. What are you guys using that won't keyhole?

What are you sizing them to? Or are you shooting them "as dropped"? What size are they dropping with your alloy? Are you getting any leading, or just keyholing?

Most CZ barrels slug pretty large for 9mm, but they'll eat .358" bullets and larger without any problems in chambering. I've not had great luck with Lee's other bullet molds that work in 9mm. For example, the 356-125-2R keyholed all over the place. I had better results with the TL356-124-2R, but you're forced to use the LLA and I have guns that seem to lead after awhile unless I really make them sticky and keep my loads down. That doesn't leave you much choice if you can't get the 358-125-RF to work.

I've moved on to molds from other manufacturers, like Lyman. Sure they cost more, are heavy, and only come in a max of 4 cavity, but if taken care of, your great, great grand kids could still be using them.

They drop at 362 so I resize to 358. They worked great in my 75 so this is pretty frustrating.

I took a pic of the jam but can't find a site that uploads from my Iphone.

I'm actually thinking it may be a mag issue. My 75 had feeding problems until I got a couple MecGar mags. The springs feel pretty weak on these.

Update:

It was the factory 14rd mags causing the jams. The springs are weak. The 358's function fine in my 16rd MecGar.

I'll go ahead and start casting the 356's though, can't hurt to go with a RN design for a change.

As I said, I never had any luck with Lee 356-125-2R in any CZ I own. The SR9 was even worse and just leaded up like crazy after a dozen rounds. Maybe you'll have better luck with them, but why would you go smaller diameter if the .358 work for you already? The 356-125-2R drops with a diameter of only slightly over .356 with my alloy. They really are meant to be sized to .356" or smaller.

I got a couple hundred 356's cast the other day. They dropped at 360 so I sized them to 357. Seems pretty accurate with decent groupings similar to the 358 rf but has the longer OAL I was looking for. Have a couple MecGar's on order.
