I was on the phone with a cast bullet company today discussing gas checks and hard cast topics.
I then mentioned I intended to use a Lee Factory Crimp die.
He said the Lee FD is not recommend for cast bullets as it can/will deform them. He recommended a roll crimp on cast bullets.
I will be loading some Speer 400 gr jacketed bullets for my hunting loads. (Powder recommendation welcome, trying to get 18-1900 fps in a Marlin 1895 )
So I will use the LFD for the jacketed bullets for sure.
But I was going to use cast for just fun and targets, and was wondering if I need to go ahead and get the Redding roll crimp die? I prefer not to crimp and seat on the same step and these rounds will be loaded on an RL 550C.
