Lee Case Length gauge query.

I've bought my third one of these for .223 Rem.

I was trying to thread the length gauge into the cutter and was having difficulty. It has been fiddly before so thought nothing of it. But after 5 minutes I decided to have a look-see. It seems that the cutter's inner bore has not been threaded: it is just smooth!

I am pretty sure that previously the cutter was threaded to receive the length gauge. Am I wrong, or is this cutter faulty?

I'd rather know before complaining to the job and looking stoopid!!

Mr Pond I get this message when I attempted to send you the info you requested: "Pond, James Pond has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space."

Prior to use make sure that the threaded fingers are not compressed. It may be necessary to splay the the threaded fingers slightly. You don't want a case length gauge that can be tightened on the cutter with only finger pressure.

These are hand tools so go easy on the electric drill speed and pressure or the cutter will dull faster and it is possible to "grind" the case length gauge shorter after some serious trimming. Use caliper to check the length from the cutter to the tip to be sure it's what you want.
