Leaving Without Further Delay

I wanted to see if we should all feel sorry for poor Tom losing his job (tsk, tsk), so I searched around for public financial disclosures by members of Congress.

There is a great website that has copies of all of the annual financial disclosures by members of Congress, as well as Bush and Cheney.

Check it out.

Homeland official arrested in online sex sting
Agency's deputy press secretary held for soliciting for a child on Internet

MSNBC: Deputy Press Secretary Brian J. Doyle of the Department of Homeland Security
Updated: 11:06 p.m. ET April 4, 2006
MIAMI - The deputy press secretary for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security was arrested Tuesday for using the Internet to seduce what he thought was a teenage girl, authorities said.

Brian J. Doyle, 55, was arrested at his residence in Maryland on charges of use of a computer to seduce a child and transmission of harmful material to a minor. The charges were issued out of Polk County, Fla.

Doyle, of Silver Spring, Md., had a sexually explicit conversation with what he believed was a 14-year-old girl whose profile he saw on the Internet on March 14, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

The girl was an undercover Polk County Sheriff’s Computer Crimes detective, the sheriff’s office said.

Doyle sent the girl pornographic movie clips and had sexually explicit conversations via the Internet, the statement said.

Used government cell phone
During other online conversations, Doyle revealed his name, that he worked for the Homeland Security Department and offered his office and government issued cell phone numbers, the sheriff’s office said.

Doyle also sent photos of himself to the girl, but authorities said they were not sexually explicit.

On several occasions, Doyle instructed her to perform a sexual act while thinking of him and described explicit activities he wanted to have with her, investigators said.

Doyle later had a telephone conversation with an undercover deputy posing as the teenager and encouraged her to purchase a web camera to send graphic images of herself to him, the sheriff’s office said.

He was booked into Maryland’s Montgomery County jail where he was waiting to be extradited to Florida, the sheriff’s office said.

There was no immediate response to messages left on Doyle’s government-issued cell phone and his e-mail, and he could not be reached by phone at the jail for comment.

Agency ‘will cooperate fully’
Homeland Security press secretary Russ Knocke in Washington said he could not comment on the details of the investigation. “We take these allegations very seriously, and we will cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation,” Knocke said.

Doyle, who is the fourth-ranking official in the department’s public affairs office, was expected to be placed on administrative leave Wednesday morning.

“We will go after child predators, no matter where they live, to protect our innocent children,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, in a statement from his office.

“This investigation shows that the long arm of the law can reach anyone, anywhere, anytime, who tries to harm our youth,” Judd said. “There is no question that Doyle believed that he was having these disgusting, obscene discussions, online and on the phone, with a young girl. His conduct is vile and inexcusable.”

This breaking story will be updated.
Looks like another one bites the dust! Creepy!:barf:

gc70,
Once these guys get the greed satisfied they go for that intoxicating power...most would trade the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for that rush of power and control. This POS could end up very easily with NADA!
Not even enough to buy hair dye and baby wipes for his greasy freaking foehead!

Rimrock

I think its great he left to. Now all the time and money the dems spent to demonize him will be useless to them. I hope they spent plenty in thier efforts. Great move Mr. Delay! My hat is off. Now the dem in his district will be forced to articulate a real plan on real issues instead of just pointing to a picture of Delay and screeching that hes the focus of evil in our time. This man is good. HEEHEE

Tom Delay ahs been my favorite...

How I have loved that guy...

I lived in Sugarland a while back.

I wished for a time, that I still lived there.

Dammit, Tom, I have to cut you loose.

I heard the other day that one of his aides turned state's evidence against him. I say it couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy.

Wether you take Delay's side or not there is something curious about this. In fact, it seems to a be a Republican problem. Why is it when a GOP member gets into hot water other members of the party seem to ignore it?

How many republican politicians did you hear stick up for Delay?

Say what you want about the Democrats, they do stick up for their own kind.

True, doesn't having principals suck sometimes! If only we all couldn't be like the Democrats... Don't get me wrong, plenty of Republicans have a broken moral compass but it seems to be fewer than on the other side...

What is amazing you did not even hear one peep from any republican house member in defense of Delay. Not even something to the effect that he is a nice guy no matter what. He might be in deeper water then we know. But the silence from the GOP is loud and clear.

"Say what you want about the Democrats, they do stick up for their own kind."

Thanks, I needed to hear something that funny.

Pray tell where did you hear that from? CNN, MSNBC, CBS?... All bastions of truth and fairness.

If evidence has been turned against DeLay then why are charges not being filed or an investigation being pursued? Maybe they should be looking at McKinneys $1000 paperclips. ;)

Wasn't it also established that the crime he was indicted for covering up was not even a crime at the time he committed it.

Say what you want about the Democrats, they do stick up for their own kind.

Yeah, they do. Even to the point where the accused is hanging onto the drapes as they are being dragged off.

Nixon had one last meeting with the heads of the Republican party before he resigned. They told him that they would not back him on his charade, and he could face impeachment and dismissal or leave.

Of course, that was back in the day when an accessory to a B&E was actually considered contemptable conduct by a chief executive or a long time congressman. Doesn't seem to matter what they do now.

As to the idiot from Georgia smackin a DC cop around, I think the cop should turn in his badge. If he can't take down a blow hard congress critter after being assaulted, whats he gonna do when real trouble comes around?
