Leatherwood Hi-Lux CMR 1-4x24mm Scope

My little brother and Jim Leatherwood were personal friends and bro got to test quite a few of the scopes that Leatherwood made. He still has a few, probably 10 or more, that he tested but Leatherwood never marketed. The most interesting to me is the 8-40 power target scope. Like you said in your vid, the glass rivals some of the best. Another dandy is the quick mount that allows the shooter to take the scope off with a twist of a lever, shoot open sights, and then put the scope back on and not lose zero. Works for the several that bro has out to 500 yds. I think the Leatherwood scopes have been grossly under rated. The warranty for us has been if you have any problems with, return it and they send you a new one. Only had one that was kinda flakey and the transaction took about 10 days. I wasn't aware of this particular scope. I've been considering a red dot for a 444 Marlin for close hog hunting where the current 4 power scope is far too much and not near enough field of view. Looks like this one would fill the bill. I'll be checking one out in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for the vid.

Bought one about a year ago when they were first released for my Mini-14.
My son just built a 6.5 Grendel AR-15 and he kept making eyes at my CMR....
Dad can't say no, so it now lives on his AR- and hopefully it'll get it's range test this weekend at 200M.

Only downside to him is that the BDC reticle is .223, but I suppose I can do some calculations to make the holds relative to the 6.5 Grendel round.

Nice piece of kit for the $$, it doesn't get the respect of the fan-boys because it's Chicom glass (a reputation that is usually deserved, but this scope is an exception, IMO).

Tobnpr,

I agree. People automatically assume that if it's made in China it's of poor quality. Just like here in the States, there are good and bad manufacturers. China is quite capable of making high quality stuff, even high tech stuff (iPhones, iMacs, etc.).

I don't care where something is made, if it's good - it's good. The CMR is good IMHO.

I have an original ART scope on a AR-15 at an auction house right now. Has the correct .223 cam in from initial delivery. What do you think it will go for?
