Can anyone recommend a nice leather service holster (i.e. hip holster, not concealment) for a GP100/6 inch barrel?

Holster

I like a holster that has an exposed trigger & sight protection , the muzzle end makes no difference.

A Bianchi 5BHL is my choice for belt carry for the 6"GP .

Galco is #2 it covers the trigger.

For concaelment (not the 6") I usually go with a custom holster .

A note here on belts as big & sturdy as the GP is ya need a "gun belt" to haul it on 1 1/2"-2" is best !!

Bianchi and Galco both make nice holsters for the GP100. As mentioned above, you'll also need a good leather gun belt to support the weight of that Ruger.

I use a Bianchi #10L "Outdoorsman" that I like for the field. I believe this is still a current model. Look at Midway and you will find quite a few choices for the GP. ..... :)

Ruger GP100 6" .357 leather holsters...

Depending on a few basic factors; color, belt width(1.5-2.25"), cant, designs, etc I'd check these websites/sources;
Tex Shoemaker, Don Hume, DeSantis, the Bianchi Cyclone 111 rig, The Sportsmans Guide, Galco.
For a shoulder rig I'd check into a Lawman Leather Goods STU or a brown leather Dirty Harry; www.Lawmanleathergoods.com .
I looked into buying a 6" blue steel GP100 revolver(with state mandated .38spl rounds) and packing it on a few armed security details for Ss & Gs ;) , but haven't had the time or $$$ yet.

I'd use a 2.25" width black nylon holster(left hand) with it.
I'd want to annoy the local cops & look like the Texas Ranger Captain in the action classic LoneWolf McQuade(1983) www.imfdb.org

Garrett's "American Legacy" is a very good option for all leather, but for durability, you can't beat a Silent Thunder. The Silent Thunder is a Kydex outer shell with permanently bonded leather interior to facilitate a smooth, quiet draw while protecting the finish of your Ruger.
