In an article, "How Your Hospital Could Kill You," in the latest Reader's Digest, I read the following statistices for yearly accidental deaths in the U.S. These are the top 5.
Fire is the "cause" of 3700
Drowning-4100
Poisoning-8400
Falls-16,600
Motor Vehicle-41,200
Medical Error-120,000

If guns are so dangerous, why are they not in this group? I tried to find more statistics but came up empty. These statistics came from National Safety Council.

I would like to know their source.

Interesting statistics especially from RD as their reputation for accuracy with regard to the facts is above reproach.

It just goes to show you that gun control is not about safety but rather disarmemt.

Scott, the sources given for the statistics and bar graph in RD is National Safety Council, 1998; Lucian Leape, M.D.; Philadelphia Inquirer. Illustrated by Jared Schneidman Design.
