Lead Remover Cloth

Hope to get a quick reply.

I have been cutting Birchwood Casey lead remover cloth into cleaning patch size to clean lead from the barrel.
Is there anything wrong with that? It seems to do a really great job removing lead and carbon, but does it present any other problems?
And yes, I clean the barrel with Butch's Bore Shine, then dry patch & oil patch last step.
 
I think that's what Lead Remover Cloth was intended for. I've done it but take care you don't allow it to touch any of the exterior bluing. Drag it through the forcing cone toward the muzzle when you use it.

My concern was using it in the bore of chrome molly barrels. I have cleaned barrels that produced clean patches with various cleaners, then used the lead remover patches only to come out with a LOT more black. This was with jacketed bullet shooting.
 
if you want to really clean copper fouling use ammonia and water. Plug one end and fill the bore and let it sit a little while then pour it out and clean it normally. Don't get any on bluing tho it will take it off.
 
wouldn't inexpensive pot scrubber `chore boy' work?

very soft pure copper purchase at most grocery stores & ace hareware stores.

i have had excellent luck using C.B. to remove leading from my black hawks & rifles when shooting lead cast.

Get one of those Pro Shot tactical kit and use the lead cloth cut to shape and as heretofore indicated, drag it through the forcing cone
