lead fouling on aluminum

Does anyone have a good way/good product to remove lead fouling from an aluminum framed revolver?

I've had 4 aluminum framed revolvers, mostly 22's, and never found a good way to get the lead off the bottom of the top strap around the back of the barrel.

The least damaging is to make a scraper from brass.

You can use a rifle case by smashing the case mouth together, or do what I did, and make a tool from brass rod that looks like a brass screwdriver blade.

This allows scraping the lead off without damaging the finish or scratching the soft aluminum.

Another method is to use solvent and a brass "toothbrush".

The brass tooth brush and Hoppies number 9 is best BUT

There are hard and soft brass brushes.
Find a place, inside the grip anywhere that wont bother the function or look of the gun and try it out first to make sure it wont marr the finish.
The other thing that I have done is to get a small path soaked with hoppy Number 9 and set the wet patch over night on where you want to remove the lead. It tende to soak under neath and loosen.

"There are hard and soft brass brushes."

I was worried about that. I'm going to try letting a patch soak overnight first.
