Lawful Carry of a pistol attached to a pistol?

Hello TFL members,

I was thinking of mounting a USFA Zip 22LR underneath an AR pistol in 300 Blackout for small shots I don't need to waste a larger caliber on or when I am not shooting suppressed. I know you can't mount this to a rifle without it becoming an SBR but will this make the pistol make an AOW or can it be legally done as its not quite a handle and is really a pistol under a pistol?

Thoughts everyone and all?

Since the Zip has a pistol grip, it could be argued that you are attaching a forward pistol grip to a pistol and thus creating an unregistered AOW.

Given that you talked of using this as a CCW weapon in another thread, I find that utterance troubling. Could you elaborate?

Honestly, I'm not sure of the end goal here. You might be within the bounds of the law by simply carrying it, but heaven help you if you really have to deploy such a thing in an actual live shoot.

Like Tom servo said, your morals should act as the laws when the laws do not cover something which could be potentially in humane towards another being. If you were carrying this for hunting or self defense in the woods, I would say it would be ok, but even then it seems pointless. Unless you have literally $0 for ammo and cannot afford to buy ammo for the .300 BLK, why use anything less? No offense but it sounds like you are trying to be a tough guy commando carrying two guns. Sure, the .22 LR might kill someone, but it also simply might wound them, which could pose a threat to you and is certainly nothing I wish upon anyone, to be shot and wounded. I think you should reconsider your options and maybe buy something like a glock.

To address your comments about the silenced shots, when would you ever need a silenced gun for a CCW? Chances are, if you must use your gun (God forbid you never have to), people are going to know you are using it. Silencers aren't like in the James Bond movies, people will still hear them!
