Latest GOA alert!

Take a Closer Look

This GOA alert really got me, so I looked into the legislation. I found the following points.

Here's the GOA link.
Go HERE and enter "hr10" in "Bill Number" to see the actual proposed legislation.

Some GOA items in the alert:
(1) The government database is created by section 2173 of HR 10, a bill introduced by House Speaker Dennis Hastert. It would allow airline passengers to be screened against lists containing "all appropriate records." What would be "appropriate" would be within the exclusive discretion of the bureaucrats, but could include medical records, confidential financial records, library records, and gun records.
The actual legislation clearly states:
(ii) ASSUMPTION OF FUNCTION- Not later than 180 days after completion of testing under clause (i), the Assistant Secretary, or the designee of the Assistant Secretary, shall assume the performance of the passenger prescreening function of comparing passenger name records to the automatic selectee and no fly lists and utilize all appropriate records in the consolidated and integrated terrorist watchlist maintained by the Federal Government in performing that function.
That's all appropriate records in the terrorist watchlist. If you're not on the watchlist, you don't have a problem.

The next issue GOA has is with setting requirements for a driver's license or I.D. card. Per GOA:
If the federal government can set standards so high as to deny you a driver's license or photo ID, it has effectively turned you into a non-person.
These are the requirements article 3052 in the bill:
(A) A photo identity document, except that a non-photo identity document is acceptable if it includes both the person's full legal name and date of birth.

(B) Documentation showing the person's date of birth.

(C) Proof of the person's social security account number or verification that the person is not eligible for a social security account number.

(D) Documentation showing the person's name and address of principal residence.
These items are SOP in every state I've lived in already.

I'm not going through the other ALERT items, and this is not a criticism of GOA, since they do a lot of good work. Sometimes, however, they get a little enthusiastic. Let's not fly off the handle without verification, otherwise we just look foolish.

Looks like we're getting our face rubbed in it, aren't we?

Done.

They already have most if not all of this info available somewhere. They just want to make it legal, or at least acceptable to the average entitlement slave.
