Got back from a hunt on Sunday with pretty good results. Two friends and i hunted on a private property for three days. Target species were red deer and fallow.

All up we got 9 for the weekend, 8 fallow and 1 mungrel red stag... A heap of meat was brought home and i also brought a cape home too.

So here is my stag i got on the last morning....

It was a good stalk which took about an hour after spotting the stag. He was with a group of smaller stags ready to bed down under a group of trees. Shot was taken from 300 yds with my .300 win mag.

I used one of my hand loads which was a 180gr Accubond with 76gr of RE-19.

We put up some red deer early in the morning but they were all small heads with the best about 12 points.

Enjoy...

They sorta look like elk to me, same shape but a bit smaller maybe. Fine looking animals though. Are they hard to hunt there? And how about the meat???????????? Is it like my favorite elk steak?

G'day. It looks like diferent country than your hound hunting photos. That country looks like it would present some long shots.

In the second photo, on the far hill, is that sheep, cattle or scrub? (The small marks to the left of your head, and futher to the right.)

Meat is good to eat, better than Sambar.

Skulls your right about taking the long shot, the closest i could get was 300 yds. And it would be scrub behind me, but there were beef cattle and sheep around the properties.

Beautiful country to hunt in and on...

Ill post some photo's of the meat animals tomorrow for you doodle..

yes very lucky, cant wai to get the head back from the taxidermist now.

The country was great for hunting, a good pair of bino's would have been handy though.
