Last smelter closing?

I just read this article about closing the last lead smelting operation in the US. Most of this is political, with conspiracy theory overtones, but I have two questions about this. First, is it true? Yeah, I know, its on the net so MUST be - but I haven't read or heard anything in mainstream news. Second, if it IS true, how soon could we realistically expect it to impact the shooting/reloading community?

It is true. I do not believe it is a conspiracy by the current administration, they have been in the process of shutting down for a number of years. From what I have researched they are not a significant source of lead for bullets. Car batteries might be more of a concern. Strategic defense might be a concern if we could no longer import lead.

This has already been discussed in this thread, and in this one. No need for a duplicate.

It seems that there are good (environmental) reasons for closing this plant, and it's not something to fret about.
