Last Noob Question: Marlin 795 Bolt

Sorry for being such a worry wart. I just want to be certain my rifle will fire and not break itself or the user.

I was disassembling the rifle and noticed that the bolt seemed to be snagging on something about half-way through the pull. I believe this is the hammer, as that's where the bolt gets to before starting to grind. There's no wear on the hammer or the bolt from what I can tell, just increased resistance. Is this normal  If I had previous experience I wouldn't be as concerned, so thanks for the patience!

Totally normal. The hammer is powered by a spring, and as you ride over the hammer, you are compressing that spring.

:D Doubt it.. I didn't notice the previous newb questions, but I know I still ask them and have been around guns my whole life. As the old saying goes, "The more you know.. "

Welcome to the forum! And for the record, Scorch is definitely one of the guys here that knows what he's talking about. He won't lead you astray.
