Does anyone have one of the Lasermax internal lasers on a handgun. The one's that replace your guide rod. If so I would like to know if you like them or not.
They also have the ones that go on the handgun rails now, anybody with one of those please respond.
Thanks

I don't like them for the simple reason that they require you to remove a vital stock part and replace it with theirs.

I'd recommend a Crimson Trace or a rail-mounted laser like a TLR-2.

a tlr-2 or other light/laser combo can be hard to get a good zero with because of the distance between the barrel and the laser. the lasermax guide rod has a definite advantage in that regard.

I have a TLR2 on my G19. It's sighted at 10 yards. The worst off it can be from point blank to 25 yards is 1 inch vertically. That means that there will be a hole in the BGs chest, just maybe an inch high or low. And I can bring that red dot on target quickly, and the tac light makes sure I know what/who I'm looking at.

Most of my shooting is with it turned off though. I want to be able to shoot without the laser because, well, I really want to improve basic skills, hone basic skills and NOT depend on something that has a possibilty of failure, however remote that possibility may be. I've just always thought that basic and simple is always best. Then the laser can come into play as an aid, not a crutch.

JMNSHO &, of course, YMMV

I have a crimson trace on my carry 1911. I would not be able to use a lasermax cuz i have a custom guide rod and recoil spring and would have to get rid of it for the laser.

I've got a Lasermax unit in my Glock 29. It came with the gun, bought used, otherwise it wouldn't be there. I never would have bought one to install. I really think they're a gimmick. It's not bright enough to use in daylight and I prefer night sights in the event of having to shoot in the dark. The only scenario I can think I would use it would involve me being so injured that I could not raise the gun to get a useable sight picture.

I will give it props for being right on the money, as far as accuracy goes. Bullets go right to the dot out to 50 ft or so. There is no adjustment for windage or elevation. The reciever keeps the Lasermax in alignment, just as it kept the original recoil spring guide in alignment.

It does tend to turn itself on and off under recoil, but that might just be because of the 10mm's jolt in this case. It might not happen in a lighter caliber.
