I am thinking of getting a pair of LaserGrips for a 1911 of mine to help with trigger control issues. Anyone have experience with these? Thanks.

I have never used lasergrips, but I HAVE used a lasersight for that very same issue. I have an inexpensive ont that clips on the trigger guard. Put it on, turn it on, and dryfire...and you can see exactly what you're doing wrong and (almost as important) when you're doing it.

Not as good as a coach watching you, but better than nothing.

I had them on a S&W M317 Airweight 22 which I used for training individuals. Actually, it was for the individual to train themselves as they could watch the beam jump up and down.

Bought them for the 1911, but never put it on one yet.

Yeah, I should have said this last night:

Do you plan on leaving the laser on the gun as a relatively permanent accessory? If *no*, consider one of those el-cheapo lasersights like I described in my post (the ones that clip on the triggerguard). I will do very nicely for the work you describe, and probably costs a TON less then lasergrips. plus, you can transfer them to any gun in your arsenal to practice trigger control.

however, if you DO plan on keeping it on the gun, go with the lasergrips or some other permanently attached laser. The removable trigger guard mounted ones are too easy to bump and ruin the alignment.

A guy I work with has a pair on his aluminum-framed 1911. I didn't think I would like it until he let me fire it.

Now I REALLY need a lasergrip on one of my 1911s...heh heh...

I have them on my J-frames and a SIG P229 and really like them. Never thought I would until I tried it. I especially like the enhanced training in point shooting that the laser can be used for at home.

I have a pair of the Crimson Trace grips on one of my 1911's, and they're fun for a change at the range. I haven't tried using them as a training aid, I really just got them because someone was selling them for $160, and it seemed like too good a deal to resist.

Hey John, I'll give you $165 for those Crimson's! Use them, they're fun. P.S. the offer's good or give me the name of the guy selling them for 160. kbagby@connectu.net

Especially if you have a cat.

Nothing is quite as amusing as a cat and a laser-dot. Not even a bug zapper and a sixpack of something good.
