So, as finally NV takes the FL permit, I wonder if there are any laws regarding CCW and the casinos, bars, strips and etc.

Generally I wont carry into a bar, but drinks are served EVERYWHERE !..

are there any prohibited areas outside the norm? I wont be going to any schools, courthouses, federal / state buildings etc...

I do recall a sign posted at Harley Davidson saying "no firearms"... is that legal there ? for stores to restrict ?

thanks for your info..

First things first, as a brother and in the name of all that is Holy, consider changing that screen name -especially if you CCW.

Nothing personal, just had to get that out of the way.

My little Brother lives in Vegas, last time we talked about the issue was in '02. He said Northtown was a no carry zone and "flashing" was a ticketable offense.

Since that is third hand info might want to check out : http://www.nsrpa.us/legal/nevlocal.html

Well, one might see this name as duck hunting, clay shooting etc... but regardless, I dont have the option to change it. (go ahead and try to change yours, there isnt that function ) one of the mods is working on making it just "shootem" but I havent heard back..

thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

http://www.nsrpa.us/legal/nevlocal.html , That information is way old. any Las Vegas residents present who can tell ?

also I found these http://www.leg.state.nv.us/NAC/NAC-202.html , but seems like not alot of help..

If your permit is valid here, you should be safe to go just about anywhere, minus the obvious federal buildings. Places that serve alcohol are not off limits in Nevada, and while the laws don't prohibit it I make it a point to avoid all booze when I'm carrying. Don't want to need it one day while I've got half a load on, can't imagine explaining that to an officer lol

Regarding that Harley shop, that is legal here. If a building has a metal detector, or any "no firearm" or "no dangerous weapons" signage, you can not legally carry inside that building. Just remember, concealed means concealed...

LOL as a long time ccw holder and an avid vegas fan i have to say that both the strip and " downtown " are the last two places i feel the need to be armed . As you point out you there are a lot of drunks , and you cannot throw a cat 24/7 without hitting at least one security person . Myself , not being immune to the temptations of a free drink or two i am happy to leave my firearms in the room and taxi between hotels . I carry into vegas , i carry when i leave " casino roe " , but when i am on strip or down on Fremont i tend to trust the cooperations to do what is best for them .

Before you carry in the Vegas area, read this link about mandatory qualification of firearms you intend to carry while in the Clark County area (including Las Vegas):

http://www.lvmpd.com/permits/firearms_concealed.html

The general Nevada permit allows you to carry everywhere else in the state, but will not protect you in Vegas or Clark County. Read up, stay on the road and out of jail!

So anyway, thanks for the posting to the metro pd.

LVMPD General Information
Non Emergency: 311
or
(702) 828-3111
TTY-(702) 828-3111

I called them, and they transferred me to their CCW dept.

Man answered and I asked:

Hello, I have a concealed weapons permit from the state of florida, is that good there ?

The guy says, yes, we recognize florida.

I said, even in the city area of las vegas ?

Yes.

thank you.
well, I guess thats that.

The qualification you quote is for issue of a Nevada permit by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (the Clark County Sheriff). It is the same for all permits issued in Nevada.

A permit issued by any Sheriff in the State is valid in Clark County, as are the listed out-state permits.
