Happy Birthday!!
I met Larry thru TFL back before TFL closed.
I had always appreciated and respected Larry's posts in all sorts of threads from Hunting, Field Dressing Game, Recipes, NRA involments, Reloading, Promoting Responsible Firearm Ownership....
Simply put - Larry and his wife Sandy are living the examples Rich challenges us all to.
Persistent little old me, kept on harping about the 28 gauge. Larry has shotguns, he knows how to use them. Still I had planted a seed. Okay - granted Larry and Sandy said it was more like a burr, or a tick causing all sorts of discomfort. Still I am to blame for planting this thing.
I am used to being blamed. "Blame Steve..."
Umpteen phone calls, PMs, emails...
Tulsa Gun Show last April, basically Larry did not 'ask' if I was coming - more like " your butt will be here".
Sandy stands there in Tulsa " I am into rifles and handguns, Shotguns are Larry's thing...".
We found Larry a 28 ga shotgun. Everyone was taking double takes as Larry walked thru the Show with HIS new gun. Larry had this smile as long as the gun barrel.
Back at the hotel, Sandy shoulders this new shotgun - I saw the look in her eyes...oh yeah...*snicker*
Since that day Larry has aquired another shotgun, in 28 ga no less...had to, the wifey now has to shoot these 28 ga guns.
Sandy would just as soon Larry stay busy reloading - and she "makes hulls"...then again after 35 yrs of marriage, they worked out a deal...somehow.
*Someone* planted a seed (burr) to get a portable clay thrower, A Trius 1-Step made it Larry's ...and Sandy's.
Life was simpler when Sandy would take a critter from the upstairs bathroom window with her rifle [ true story] and holler down " honey, since you are outside anyway...do you mind?"
Poor Larry has to make all them reloads, buy all them clays, haul them down to the shooting spot on his property...and hope he gets to shoot at least one of the two 28 gauges...
He would not trade this for anything.
Now all I gotta do is show up at his place, and make hulls too...
Happy Birthday to a great close friend, one whom lives the example TFL stands for, and has not only a great wife in Sandy, but one heck of a shooting pard.
