Large or small G

I took some examples from the internet and combined them with my barrel. Left to right: large G, small G and mine. What say you?

another line up

Bottom of my Colt barrel. I'm trying to figure out if it's a small or large G. My barrel is on the right.

I am guessing you mean physical size and not the upper/lower case thing. :p

But you have a small G... there are differences in the font type... Slight differences in shape...

Your barrel (on the right) matches the middle barrel.

This is a capital "G" this is a small or lower case "g".

What you show are all capital Gs.

That they vary some in size just means that different stamps were used over the years. There are collectors and books that could possible shed more light on that. I assume that's what you want to know...if the different size stamps had any specific meaning. No it's not likely they did, not intentionally anyway. But like I said somewhere someone will have noted and recorded the years or places one stamp was used over another.

You could try over here...

Or at their GI section...
