Anyone ever heard of one of these rifles. I saw one today and it looks to be very well made. Big massive receiver. chambered in .308. Receiver stamping says Lakelander, Stennis Space Center. Very strange, Stennis is a NASA/Navy research center on the Mississippi Gulf coast.

I never heard of the gun company but all I can tell you is this:

This my looking around online found as there site (it doesnt want to work though :().
http://www.algonet.se/~b4m/lakelander/

A company that seems to sell them but they are located in Europe.

http://users.skynet.be/vinck/

And I also found this:
128 Bild KULGEVÄR , Finskt, fabrikat: Lakelander, repeter, modell TAP 974, kal. 30-06, tillvnr. 850013, piplängd 58 cm, utan riktmedel, från ovan plundringsbart magasin, Monte Carlo kolv med kindstöd, gummibakkappa, spricka i kolvhalsen i övrigt MYCKET GOTT SKICK Vapenlicens krävs.
Utropspris 3000-4000 SEK, Såld för 2500 SEK

So that might tell you about the cost of these rifles. I belive its 2500 SEK (about 328$ USD) on special but I cant actually read this so if anyone can help us out ;)

This is from the site I qouted (http://www.widforss.se/auktion/auktion_v03/kulgevar.html)

Picture from an auction, the text says:
Picture RIFLE, Finnish [though I think all Lakelanders was made in Sweden, might be wrong], maker: Lakelander, repeater, model TAP 974, cal. 30-06, serialno. 850013, barrel length 58 cm, no sights, mag empties to the top [I think they used a button to empty the mag to the top], Monte Carlo stock, rubber recoil pad, a crack in the stock [behind the mechanism] but othervice in VERY GOOD CONDITION. License needed. Starting bid 3000-4000Skr, sold for 2500 Skr [around $330]

From the single review I've read about them, it should be a nice high quality rifle, but I have never actually seen one IRL.

Mikke Thanks for the translation :)

They look like pretty nice rifles though. :)

Oh and Mikke the company is from Sweden (assuming the site I found that is supposedly there's is the right one):

Hey, since i am from Norway I can trye to help you with this problem.

Lakelander is not swedish but norwegian. It is prodused by Kongsberg smallarms.
Allmost the same rifle is pruduced in sweaden and it is called Warberger.
Warberger M375 and Lakelander M389 is the same rifle but prodused in both countries. They splitted upp, Kongsberg produces Lakelander and sweaden began to produce thei new invented reciver. It had 9 bearings instead of 3.
Picture is an Lakelander M389 in 3006Spr made by Kongsberg smallarms. This rifle costs about $1500Us (11000NKr)

Lakelander TAP

Lakelander was made by Tampere Ase Paja(TAP) in Tampere Finland.

Lisence to make new ones was sold, where and I do not know, details etc.

They started as a biathalon 22 and game rifles were bored out to various sizes based on that model.

My dad was a machinist working for Timo, the man that purchased and owned this company.

Norwegian buddy of mine used one in 6.5 Swede for moose and deer for a lot of years before he finally moved up in caliber. It's always been on my want list of guns to have just because of its history.

Hi guys i,m steve and new to this forum and i would like to ask a question. I have a Varberger made in Sweden .270 cal and i have had it about 22 years, i have had many rifles bought and sold but this one remains my best and trusted rifle. However after many thousands off rounds at deer and foxes the trigger guard (ring) being made of plastic has now broken and i'm wondering if the guard (ring) off a Lakelander M389 will fit ? any help here will be greatly appricated :)
