"LadySmith" ???

Anyone know if there is a Lady Smith (Model 65, 3" bbl) that doesn't say "Lady Smith" on the side ? Would it just be a model 65 ? Thanks, been wanting a 3" 357 with fixed rear sights.

Check their website. The regular model 65 is not 3". Get the 65 Ladysmith and forget about what it says on the side.

LOL I have to laugh because I actually thought the exact same thing before I went with the 4" 686P I recently purchased. Actually what convinced to get the 686P was the price was indentical and what the gun shop owner told me as he stated he had fired both numerous times.

"The Ladysmith is nice as it has fixed (notched) rear sight and the wood grips make it look very nice. In practicality you get an extra shot in the 686P, a little heftier weight to deal with full power magnum loads, and more importantly it comes with a decent set of grips out of the box to help with recoil as well. Although you really can't go wrong with either. They are both fine in their own right."

So I was talked into getting the 686P. Its a little bit bigger feeling but not in the grip area as I actually found the 65's wood grips to feel chunkier. I'm extremely satisfied with the workmanship in regards to cycling action and finish to date. Unfortunately I have not been able to test it yet with the weather being extremely unco-operative in Norther Wisconsin. IMHO If you want the 3" Model 65LS get it. Anyone who really knows firearms should appreciate it for what it is, another fine S&W wheel gun. If they laugh at you, well then you know what they actually know.......diddly squat.

I'd get it no matter what it said on it, if I like the gun. It's gonna be between a new 65LS and keeping my 66-3, 4". Oh, and should I feel guilty for going surfing this morning, and then hitting the Fraternal Order of Police firing range in St. Augustine, Florida in 78 degree sunny weather this afternoon ?

Yes.

You should feel very, very guilty. :D

Today was the first day in a week that it hasn't rained and it's been nice enough to shoot.

The range on post was closed due to ecological testing in the impact area

They couldn't test when it rains?

Well, all for good I suppose, but.....FEEL GUILTY!

you bastard.....j/k its been freezing rain for the last two days, not cold enough for it to snow, but cold enough that it turns to ice when its hits the ground.

Arggg. I used to surf Satellite Beach for 20+ years. Now I live here whare we have "shooting seasons"' (cannot shoot when you cannot feel your fingers)! I miss Florida!!!!!!!!!!

I once had a 65LS Ladysmith that I foolishly traded away and have regretted it every since. It was a particularly well put-together piece of revolver artistry. I wouldn't worry about the logo at all. However, once in a conversation with a tech from Smith and Wesson (previous ownership) he did say that for a price Smith and Wesson would install a new sideplate sans logo. If you really don't want it but want the revolver, give them a call. I didn't and still don't think it would be worth the trouble and expense but I remember it wasn't terribly expensive. I particularly liked the fully-shrouded ejector on the 65LS compared the the 65. Really nice gun.

Thanks for the opinions...and I couldn't agree MORE with what SnWnMe said. Doerdie, Satellite Beach is about an hour and a half south of me, between the surfing and fishing, it's one of the best parts of this state.

Our local Revenue Agents used to carry 3 inch S&W 65s. If you can't find a new one, you should be able to find one used. Check out KY imports periodically to see if they have one.
